Anton Davidyants

Anton Davidyants is one of the most prominent bass players in Russia, working with the top jazz and fusion bands in the country. His style combines an incredible creative power with a peerless technical level.

If some people are child prodigies, Davidyants came to his instrument later in his teens. After reluctantly enrolling in the Frederic Chopin college on piano, the 15-year-old discovered the bass guitar. From this moment on, the instrument was all Davidyants could think of. Dropping out of college after only one semester, he started practicing for most of his waking hours. This passion, bordering on fanaticism, led him to securing the only schorlarship at the College of Music, only 3 months after his first encounter with the instrument. His progress from then on was lightning fast.

The same year, he was invited to play in all the student bands. In just about a year, he played with an incredible number of musicians and bands: Igor Butman, Oleg Butman, Sergey Manukyan, Mariam Merabova, Valery Grokhovsky, Daniel Kramer, Zventa Sventana, Utah, Mara, Nikolay Noskov, Anita Tsoi, Batyrkhan Shukenov, and many more famous musicians and singers in Russia. In the end, he had played with almost all existing formations in Moscow. He also quickly began to play and tour with international artists such as Eric Marienthal, Saskia Laroo, Gregory Porter, Damien Schmitt, Virgil Donati, Alex Hutchings, Martin Miller and Nadishana.

Davidyants started playing with his own band, Impact Fuze, in 2010. It featured Russia’s most famous guitar prodigy Feodor Dosumov and French drummer Damien Schmitt, known for his associations with Jean-Luc Ponty, Bireli Lagrène and bassist Alain Caron. In just a few years since he first picked up the bass, Davidyants became one of the best performers in Russia. His international recognition is also growing thanks to collaborations with some of the best musicians on the planet.

“I tried some loopers before, but never took it seriously until my encounter with the Infinity Looper. It gives you so many opportunities to express yourself. There are a lot of functions in this pedal and they all fit into this small box. It will definitely give me lots of new ideas to improve my solo performances.”
